General
The earliest period that later generations besides the Old Ones do somewhat understand is referred to as the Rune Epoch, also known as "the Epoch of Runes". It spans from approximately 4000 to 100 B.I.D., during which Old Ones inscribed symbols resembling runes at various locations across Áváhé, possibly to either exert magic or to delineate areas and territories.
Etymology
Originally coined by the Wolves of the North, the term the Rune Epoch was later embraced by scholars from Luyieveria. It is less prevalent below the South-Fall, as remnants of this era are comparatively scarce in that region. However, scholars of the Imperii Draconi and the Republic of Letters have adopted it as well.
