General

The Markhrer are a relatively insignificant and diminishing faction among the religious denominations of the Akrehdei.

Etymology

Unknown.

Beliefe

They live and worship like the vast majority, but they choose to be interred communally. Instead of scattering their ashes after cremation, as was customary, they have them stored in small shrines as a warning for other Akrehdei. According to the belief of the Markhrer, when the world comes to an end at the command of Ananta-Shesha, it would be the deity itself who scatters the ashes.

Markhrer Shrines

These structures typically exhibit a compact, square configuration, often situated at a depth approximately equivalent to Deiic waistline. Each side is equipped with a short staircase, and the interior flooring is adorned with slabs.

Located centrally within the complex is most often a three- or four-sided obelisk, serving as a conspicuous focal point. Its inscriptions denote its function as a tomb, destined to be transported into the void by Ananta-Shesha at the opportune moment.

Of particular significance within Markhrer graves are the corners, each typically occupied by a small, triangular stone embellished with intricate symbols across its entirety. "Tharts" - chalice-like structures - are typically placed atop these stones. Nestled within each Thart is an egg-shaped urn, crafted from either stone or metal, often adorned with distinctive patterns ranging from scales to diamonds. These urns store the ashes.

The donor of the grave usually receives the north-facing corner.
