General

Balthasar [baltazaɐ̯] of Kesdrýraco was a scholar from the city of Kesdrýaco in ancient Tammeren. His birth and death dates are not definitively recorded, a fact that applies to numerous other biographical details concerning his person as well. Nevertheless, numerous of his works on natural philosophy and science have been preserved.

Life

Precious little is known about Balthasar's life, except that he likely hailed from Kesdrýaco in the former region of Tammeren and was born shortly after the downfall of the Old Empire. He maintained contact with other scholars of the region for a long period, which led to the preservation of his works.

In the Republic of Letters, discrepancies in Balthasar's biography were later repeatedly discussed. In particular, the texts attributed to him, his precise collaborations with colleagues, and the mysterious connection to a colleague known as the 'Friend from the West' have been subjects of ongoing debate.[1]

Work

Particularly, Balthasar delves into the nature of the universe, the relationship among natural constants, and the essence of magic. Among other topics, he also writes about the field of clairvoyance.
