Dracomayor
General
Dracomayor is a region in the central south of Áváhé and the westernmost spur of Aerznia.
The region was once the ancestral home and stronghold of the Magotho dragon clan. At the time of the Iron Gate Saga, Dracomayor de facto belongs to the Aerznian Empire. However, the land is scarcely populated, if at all, and economically unattractive.
Etymology
The term "Draco" in Dracomayor originated from the ancient Draconian word "Dýrrách" and means "Dragon". "Mayor" most likely means something like "great" or "greater". Thus, the region is taken literally as "the bigger Dragon" and alludes to the extent of the region.
The term reflects the increasing influence of other species such as Humans on the local Dragons. The influence of the Aerznian language is clearly visible.
Geography
Dracomayor separates itself from the rest of Aerznia as a high plateau. Its average altitude is up to 1300 meters. The land is rocky and rather barren over long stretches.
Climate
Dracomayor is relatively arid. It is located in a zone influenced by the terraforming of the Old Empire. In its original state, it would have a desert climate, but between 50 B.I.D. and 7000 A.I.D., it was formed into a savannah. In the context of the regression of terraforming, though, it increasingly resumes its original form.
Cities
In ancient times and at the time of the Old Empire, Dracominor was the most important city in Dracomayor. At the time of the Iron Gate Saga, however, Dracominor and all the settlements that otherwise existed are in complete ruin. Dracominor, however, is the best preserved.
