General

Thôscan architecture is an architectural style that occurs specifically in the Thôsco region.

Characteristics

Thôscan architecture focuses especially on seeking harmony with nature. Existing terrain is often integrated into the development, whether it is rocks or trees. The presence of old structures from the Old Empire is also often characteristic. Building is often done with stone but also a lot with wood.

Especially in the densely forested regions in the center and east of Thôsco, many settlements grew up around old buildings from the Old Empire already existed in its time. Therefore, the ancient structures were often integrated. Historical districts can thus often be found.

Mountain Cities and Arboreal Habitats

Towns and settlements in the mountainous center of the region often cluster around a few but prominent Imperii Draconi remnants and also along old established passages and routes. Tree habitats often complement structures built into or against bedrock. These are primarily sturdy wooden structures built between and against trees, often seamlessly supplementing ground structures. Supporting beam meshes in all possible forms are therefore a prominent feature of thôscan architecture. These constructions are so stable that Dragons can easily live in them. Roofing in tree habitats is often done with tarps of various colors and often in shapes that resemble Dragon backs or wings. Alternatively, peaked roofs are built with straw and reed.

Long footbridges often connect the houses. In larger settlements may also be formed different levels.

Platteaus

In particularly steep or mountainous areas, platteaus are often densely built to save space. Long houses of stone and wood with cup roofs and towers with pointed roofs are the rule, often with at least one central plaza. If mountain streams are present, they often flow through the settlement in their original course. Above and below the Platteaus, individual buildings or groups of buildings are often grouped in the stone foothills or on low ridges.

Lowland Settlements

In flatter regions - especially in the south and east - the oldest settlements of Thôsco can be found. They are often kept simple, in some places you can still find ancient mesócratic influences and early thôscan architecture with plenty of space for different species.

Heaven's Fall

In the region called Skyfall, in the far east of Thôsco, there is a particularly large amount of architecture from the Old Empire. Houses are typically built of stone blocks or wood and roofed with tiles.

In regions that were once important before trade, old ships have often been converted into buildings and sometimes joined together to form adventurous constructions that can be several stories high, especially where terrain with rock walls allows it. A good example for this is the city Ithunso.

Western Thôsco

There are significantly fewer citizens living in the dry and warm west of Thôsco. Some ruins from the time of the Old Empire can still be found here. Due to the active contact with Kehdei, some Kehdeiic influences were adopted in the architecture.
