General

Humans represent the most prevalent species across Áváhé, surpassing both the Kehdei and Orcs in population. Individuals of diverse ethnicities and skin tones inhabit various regions across the continent.

Culture

There exists no singular overarching culture among this species, primarily due to the vast expanse of Áváhé as a landmass. Instead, there are myriad cultures and subcultures. (see: Countries, Cultures & Religions)

History

The history of humans in Áváhé is complex and intricate, marked by conflicts.

Origins

Human communities began to emerge as early as 4000 B.I.D. in Mesócrata, extending partially into the coastal regions to its north and south. Between 3000 and 2000 B.I.D., settlements also arose along the Mater River, situated to the west of Mesócrata, and rapidly expanded northward, even crossing the river to the west. This migration was likely prompted by recurring flood disasters that disproportionately affected the northern regions of Mesócrata.

Perhaps already in the 3600s, Humans encountered the Old Ones, who held sway over Áváhé at that time. After numerous hostile encounters, the Old Ones fiercely repelled the Humans, pushing them back eastward, where they then remained for decades. These conflicts laid the groundwork for the profound mistrust between Humans and Old Ones that persisted in later times.

The first notable Human cities also formed with Ioq and Ax́ol.

After 3300 B.I.D., Humans resumed their colonization efforts in territories west and north of Mesócrata. By then, a sparsely populated intermediary zone had emerged, devoid of both Old Ones and Humans. The Humans also turned their attention to the exploration of islands north of Mesócrata. However, recurrent floods along the peninsula's coastline rendered the coastal regions unsafe at intervals spanning several decades. Consequently, many Humans sought refuge in safer locales. This sparked an emigration movement, prompting settlers to navigate the Thôscaic Sea and colonize Thôsco. There, they established peaceful relations with both Old Ones and Dragons.

In the 2800s, Humans began to increasingly populate the Achat again, establishing settlements in the region. Concerned for their safety amidst the growing Human presence, the Old Ones sought the assistance of their allies, the Dragons, to guide and relocate the newcomers elsewhere. Consequently, some Humans were either forcibly deported or voluntarily relocated by the Dragons. Paradoxically, contrary to the Old Ones' intentions, this led to a rapid northward expansion of the Human species across the Stormlands to Lochäa and Brônia.

Imperii Draconi

In the 2300s, Humans cautiously repopulated the west side of the Mater, fostered by a long period of peace between Human tribes, Old Ones, Dragons and Kehdei in Thôsco. Although many Old Ones deeply distrusted them, Humans spread further and further into the Aerznian Desert.

Dragons and Humans in the Mid-South now also came into increasing contact. Around 1900 B.I.D., hunting and protection communities modeled after Thôsco were formed. The better these communities functioned and the more profitable they became, the more attractive they became as a way of life. Humans now moved in droves to Phoeica and founded settlements that would later develop into large cities such as Ádron, Áterôn, and Quanar. In this way, the Humans of southern Áváhé integrated well into the communities of Dragons and Old Ones.

Finally, in the year 0, many Human communities were involved in the creation of the Imperii Draconi.
