Nideon Thavi
General
Nideon Thavi [nɪde:o:n ta:vɪ] was a diplomat at the time of the late Old Empire. He gained notoriety for his leadership in negotiating the Dominion treaties and his involvement in the Lochäa Crisis and the Mesócrata Crisis.
Appearance
Nideon was a half-Dragon with a human form. His skin was of a light complexion, his black hair was usually cut short. His face was narrow, with accentuated contours.
Personality
Nideon was known for his warm nature and sarcasm and was famous for his quick wit.
Life
Nideon was born in Košbrôn in 5603 A.I.D.. Where and when he did is unknown. Since he was half Dragon, he probably lived longer than an average Human. Nideon was descended from the Brônian clan Thavi, a small clan composed mainly of Humans. It is unknown when he died since he vanished around the time of the Scarlet Night.
At the age of 21, he decided to enter the diplomatic service of the Imperii Draconi. For this, he left the Lower North and moved to Quanar, where he went into training. There were hardly any diplomats from his region, so many initially considered him a province boy. Nideon then participated in missions in Ýuufver and Crovia.
Fast Career
Nideon quickly made a name for himself thereby getting Crovia to agree to a neutrality pact against Flarrock that made it impossible to use the country as a beachhead.
The Wars for the North
When the wars for the North broke out in 5638 A.I.D., Nideon was recalled from Ýuufver and sent with a delegation to the Dróžt. The leader of the delegation died on the trip, so the leadership fell to him. His task was to persuade the local powers to be neutral, which he succeeded in doing with considerable difficulty.
In 5639 A.I.D. he and his delegation had to flee from Lłóđamaar, as the city itself was attacked by hordes advancing up to here.
At the turn of the year 5640 A.I.D., he reached the Fallwacht. Here he encountered his later friend Chrioseptico for the first time. Here, to his great anger, he also learned about the poor state of the army. He shared Chrioseptico's frustration and strongly criticized the central government in Dracominor. Nideon made several attempts to meet the advancing hordes and negotiate with them but failed each time. He began to anticipate that the local estates felt betrayed by the empire and that this would hold great potential for future tension.
Nideon personally traveled to Dracominor in great haste to see Emperor Tilân. After some persuasion, he managed to obtain permission for a reconquest. With this in hand, he returned to Lochäa.
Finally - in 5642 A.I.D. - Nideon got the current general of the army to resign after the latter refused to carry out the campaign. As a result, Chrioseptico took over the leadership and launched the reconquest.
Field Experience
Nideon had never been fond of military activities. As an advisor to Chrioseptico, however, he also lent a hand with simple tasks. With Chrioseptico, Nideon repeatedly came into conflict. Even if he considered him a good military leader, the Dragon's strategies were sometimes too radical for him, while Nideon himself tried to take future diplomatic goals into account in all actions on the field, especially the reintegration of Brônia.
The Dominion Treaties
After the Lower and Middle North had been reconquered, Nideon managed to get the migrating hordes and the imperial estates to the same table. He - unlike Chrioseptico believed - realized that the migrants could no longer be pushed back into the Upper North and sought to find a solution through a new political order.
He feared that the empire, which had de facto abandoned its own estates in the region, would lose many of its supporters and did everything to dissuade the local powers from leaving. Nideon succeeded in this mainly by solving the pressing question of what to do with the people coming from the North. Without consulting the government in Dracominor, he negotiated with the new peoples that they would be allowed to settle in the high grasslands, a then empty land, and gave the weakened estates - with Chrioseptico's support - the guarantee that the imperial army would keep the peace.
Thus, he tied the local powers to the empire and integrated the new peoples into the region. He could not, however, avoid the pressure for an exit from the empire in Herse and Brônia. Therefore, he negotiated the Dominion treaties with them, which included a 25-year grace period during which the empire would help rebuild the regions and forego tax revenues from them.
All of this made him famous but also earned him a lot of criticism and a reputation for being stubborn.
The Lochäa Crisis
5653 A.I.D. Nideon engaged in the Lochäa Crisis. Here he was not chief negotiator, but second to the diplomat Ingqondo Dia, whom he soon regarded as his archenemy, but respected. Together with her and Chrioseptico he tried to get the separatist powers in Lochäa under control but failed due to the dispute that prevailed among the imperial estates.
His hands were tied for him and the other diplomats when all the local powers invoked their right to self-governance, only to then be able to fight each other. This represented a loophole in the Old Law, which actually stipulated state peace.
Nideon then traveled to Bantubwe alongside Chrioseptico, with the two becoming close. They eventually parted ways and Nideon visited Kehda, where he stayed for a year before moving to Dracominor. The failure in Lochäa gnawed at him.
The Mesócrata Crisis
Nideon found his next great political task in the Mesócrata Crisis.
